Lactose intolerance is not to be confused with milk allergy. The latter is in reaction by the body’s immune system to one or more milk proteins. Lactose is a sugar found in milk and milk products.
Lactose intolerance is a digestive disorder, due to over exposure to lactose. Eventually after excessive exposure to a specific allergen, the body can start building up an intolerance to lactose. It can be more difficult to eliminate than an allergy, so avoidance of milk is best, but small amounts now and then will be tolerable.
- Flatulence that can lead to farting and burping
- Diarrhea – after an hour or two of consuming lactose the person can suddenly become desperate to go to the bathroom
- Abdominal rumbling
Eliminating the allergies with The Allergy Kit is very helpful and so is adding enzymes and probiotics to the diet.
Lactase is an enzyme produced in the small intestine and it breaks down lactose. People with lactose intolerance don’t produce enough lactase to break down lactose into glucose and galactose.
